What is the Job About?

The Public Affairs Specialist will be responsible for supporting US-based public affairs efforts in close cooperation with the Director of Public Affairs in the United States, who leads US External Relations, and position Grundfos as a valued contributor to solving water and climate challenges. This role includes mapping, assessing, and influencing standards and legislation; engaging with relevant stakeholders; and coordinating programs to help build a positive position for Grundfos. Ultimately, to support establishing Grundfos as a trusted partner and advisor for political stakeholders on water and climate issues in the United States. This position may operate on a hybrid schedule and is based out of the US Headquarters in Brookshire, TX (Houston area).

Your main responsibilities:

  • Support in developing policy positions and other political content for Grundfos across our business units, ensuring the team has the right tools to move forward External Relations activities.

  • Create a process to develop External Relations plans across our selected states/regions and ensure they are aligned to divisional priorities in close collaboration with the Director of Public Affairs and senior business leaders. Ensure our activities advance business goals, including value-at-stake assessments.

  • Prepare leadership for engagement with public, industry, and institutional stakeholders. Play a key role in enabling a well-prepared and streamlined Grundfos representation at public meetings, events, and platforms.

  • Engage with state and federal political stakeholders and industry organizations to effectively position Grundfos and influence regulation to shape market conditions.

Your background

We imagine that you have:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, political science, engineering or business.

  • 4+ years of experience in public affairs in the US and are a public affairs professional. Some communications or public relations experience is a plus.

  • A strong understanding of market and business development, industry relations, and issues management. Industry or trade association background is also helpful.

  • Experience engaging with and supporting management in national and international political forums, events, conferences, and special initiatives.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Experience and comfort working in a matrixed environment.

  • Experience with creating position papers, policy memos, talking points, presentations, consultation responses, and white papers and speeches (typically in cooperation with communications colleagues)

  • Knowledge about and past exposure to the water industry, sustainability, and/or the building sector.

  • A willingness to travel up to 30% if necessary. As a result, candidates should be able to maintain valid identification.
